Number through Algebra

Srong mathematicians find patterns in numbers.
Strong mathematicians make connections from what they know to new learning situations.

Look at our choral count.  We counted back in 1's..
We noticed-

It was like backwards counting.
Our number got less/smaller by 1 count each time.
It is like taking away 1.
When we looked down the columns we noticed more patterns in numbers.
Looking across the rows there were even more patterns!

Our choral count started at 2 and added 2 each time.
Our number got great/bigger by 2.
We noticed a lot of patterns in the numbers.
Look across the row...the number always ends in 2,4,6,8,0
The next row are all teen numbers.
The following row are numbers in the twenties and the next row are numbers in the thirties?
What do you notice when you look down the columns?
2,12,22,32....what number will be next in the pattern?

What do you think we choral counted in?
What patterns can you see?

How many ways can you make 10?

Look at the patterns we found in numbers when we subtracted/took away to make 10.

What number patterns do you see?
